basic emotional responses to stress

Hypothyroidism Issues : Thus we see emerging two great groups of illnesses resulting from the two basic emotional responses to stress, aggression and inhibition.
The aggressive personality, blocked in his aggressive response, is susceptible to heart disease, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis and other circulatory disorders, migraine, rheumatoid arthritis, hyperthyroidism. Diabetes, many skin diseases, and certain allergies also possibly belong here.
The regressive personality reacts with fatigue states, functional disturbances of the digestive tract such as indigestion, diarrhea or constipation, colitis and a whole train of gastro-intestinal complaints including peptic ulcer, plus certain allergies and respiratory diseases.
So far we have in bare outline an explanation of why energetic, dominating Aunt Martha has migraine while Uncle Henry, meek and timid soul, suffers from a chronic dyspepsia. We mention Aunt Martha and Uncle Henry as symbols for the many couples whom all of us know.

  1. Our heart beat, our breathing, the expansion and contraction of blood vessels, the mechanism of digesting food, storing it, and releasing it for the body's use—all of these are the business of the autonomic nervous system.

  2. This system cannot be commanded by our conscious will. But it reacts automatically to our emotions or signals set up in the outer layers of the brain.
The autonomic nervous system has two divisions, both essential, which must function in harmony for us to remain in health: the sympathetic system and the parasympathetic system. They work in opposition to each other. One dilates and the other contracts; one stimulates and the other inhibits.

  3. The parasympathetic system (also called the vagus system) runs a steady conservative course, preparing food, storing sugar, protecting the body against cold by contracting the blood vessels, making you cough in a smoky room. The parasympathetic system is the peacetime governor.

  4. Hypothyroidism: The scientists studied 13 thousand people, in my childhood living in various parts of Ukraine, including those affected by Chernobyl. It was found that among people who grew up in areas that are not affected radiation, it was almost five times less than the incidence of thyroid cancer than among those who suffered from radioactive fallout. According to the study authors, 75% of cases of thyroid cancer might have been avoided if not for the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. A study published in the journal Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
